Mitsubishi HDTV Model WD-60737 Product Review
By : Maxeka Lumuda
Mitsubishi’s 2009 lineup features two series called home theater TVs; which is to differentiate from its flat-panels series; and Mitsubishi HDTV model WD-737 is the cheapest. The main consideration for purchasing this great Mitsubishi HDTV is getting as much screen for as little money as possible, since it has perfect and excellent screen-size-to-price ratio; with accurate color; extremely thin bezel results in nearly “all screen” look ; plenty of connectivity including three HDMI and three component-video inputs; numerous picture adjustments. And the Mitsubishi HDTV model WD-737 series fulfills that role admirably.
As far as we have tested, it can’t match the black-level performance of most flat-panels, it has some uniformity issues unique to its category and of course you’ll eventually need to replace the bulb. Even so, the replacement is relatively cheap (only $99, plus shipping), color accuracy is very good, and we have mentioned the picture is enormous. If you are going to go really big for less, this Mitsubishi HDTV series is should be your no1 choice. If there’s flaws we would mention that it reproduces lighter black levels than any flat-panel displays; got some visible screen grain; deeper cabinet not too great for wall-hanging; must eventually replace bulb; awkward menu and remote design.
While on the design concept, The Mitsubishi HDTV WD-737 model is basically a big black box TV. The Mitsubishi’s massive LCD is surrounded by a half-inch-thick border that would seem tiny even on a 26-inch TV on the sides and top, with the cabinet measures seven inches tall on the bottom. This great Mitsubishi HDTV is using Matte black colored along the edge of the picture and a glossy finish is relegated to the lower lip of the bottom cabinet panel, below a smile-shaped arc that hides the speakers. A few controls conceal behind the flip-down door on the front panel with no inputs or memory card slots. While on features, Mitsubishi’s entry-level lineup of DLP TVs, the Mitsubishi HDTV model WD-737 is equipped with the basics yet missing a couple of the step-up options found on the more-expensive WD-837 model. Perhaps the most prominent omissions are their NetCommand system and the PerfectTint controls, which lets you to control the TV by using an on-screen interface and an IR blaster system.
The back panel of this amazing Japanese Mitsubishi HDTV includes three HDMI ports, an antenna input, two component-video inputs (can accept both composite-video connections), and analog stereo and digital coaxial (not optical) audio outputs. 3D glasses got one port; A side-panel bay, although it doesn’t offer another HDMI jack , but it includes a third component-video input that can also accept composite-video. There is no connectivity for analog PC. That’s why we say that Mitsubishi WD-737 series has a decent connectivity.
Conclusion, the Mitsubishi HDTV model WD-737 performed very well for the price. Its main strengths are their color accuracy and the sheer impact of its huge screen projection units, which can get plenty bright for even the brightest rooms. On the other hand, the big set couldn’t match the black-level performance of flat-panels, and its screen showed some grain with a some other less-noticeable uniformity issues.
